The city

Ipswich, situated on the estuary of the river Orwell, is the capital of the county of Suffolk. This fantastic town, which prides itself on being one of the oldest in England, is the birthplace of such distinguished figures as Chaucer, Carl Giles and Henry VIII. For centuries, Ipswich was known as one of England’s major ports, and was therefore a meeting place for businessmen and adventurers.

Ipswich has a fascinating history, as well as excellent commercial opportunities. The town centre has an abundance of shops where you always find what you’re looking for. Ipswich also offers excellent regional cuisine and a wide variety of cultural activities, as well as several hotels to suit all budgets.

Since 2008, Ipswich has been the main campus of University Campus Suffolk, which teaches courses in art, information technology, education and economics, amongst other subjects.
